Mazzer has been making coffee grinders in Scorzè, just outside Venice, since Luigi Mazzer started the company in 1948. For decades they were the default professional grinder in every Italian espresso bar — and most US ones — long before Mahlkönig and the specialty crowd showed up in the 2010s. The Super Jolly is the grinder you've probably seen most: a 64mm flat-burr, side-doser hopper, on basically every traditional commercial bar that came up before single-dose workflows existed.
The current commercial range stretches from the Mini at the light-commercial end through the Super Jolly V Up as the workhorse on-demand espresso grinder for small-to-medium volume. The Major V is the 83mm flat-burr step up for higher-volume bars that want more headroom. The Kony S is the smaller conical-burr option at 63mm — a different cup profile, more body, less clarity than the flats. The Robur S is the flagship: 71mm conicals, low-RPM motor, the grinder behind every busy Italian bar in the 90s and 2000s and still the high-volume choice for traditional espresso programs. The ZM is the newer entry pointed at specialty filter and espresso — official grinder of the World Brewers Cup 2023–25.
People stick with Mazzer because the platforms are 20-plus years old, burrs are still being made for every model in the lineup, and any commercial coffee technician in the country has worked on one.
